Free eBook Bible KJV for Kindle Paperwhite
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
– Psalm 119:105
Features of this King James eBook Bible – Pure Cambridge Edition
- Authorized King James Version
- Pure Cambridge Edition: http://www.bibleprotector.com/
- Designed and tested to work best on a Kindle Paperwhite.
- Kindle’s “Go to Table of Contents” feature includes all books of the Bible in an expandable submenu.
- Easily select a specific chapter and verse of any given Book.
- Easily search for every verse using the following format: [Book][Chapter].[Verse]: ge1.27 => This will find Genesis 1:27; he12.1 => This will find Hebrews 12:1
- Each verse only shows the verse number at the beginning of the verse. Other eBook Bibles show the book, chapter, and verse number for their verse search feature. I thought it was too distracting when reading.
- Easily traverse up and down through the table of contents, book, chapter, and verse.
- Easily identify what book and chapter you are on while reading on a Kindle Paperwhite
- Every verse is on its own line and not grouped in paragraphs like in modern Bibles. There is nothing wrong with paragraphs, I just find it easier to memorize scripture in the traditional ‘verse-per-line’ layout.
- The Table of Contents inside the Bible only displays the 66 books in a clean list. From here you can easily reference each books “shortname”. This is useful for searching.

Looks good!
Any possibility of you making it readable on a Mac desktop?
If you allow the user to select the window frame size it would be good for desktop, iPad and iPhone.
How do users validate the absolute accuracy of the compilation to be certain it is a genuine PCE KJV?
No offence intended, but the Public do need to be wary of the cults distorting the word 🙂
Chris says
Hmm, I haven’t tested it on a desktop. Are you using the Kindle app on your Mac?
I got the copy of this KJV from Bible Protector. It is a community driven effort.
However, I would like to make clear that PCE KJV is not a perfect Bible translation, nor is it the only translation that God uses. God has raised up many wonderful and genuine Christians using the NASB, NIV, ESV, Chinese Bibles, Arabic Bibles, and so on.
Samuel says
Where can I get a perfect Bible then?
If God can’t keep his word preserved then how could you trust him to preserve your soul. God is not a man that he should lie. If he said he would preserve his word then believe him.
The Christian church has lost it’s power because it won’t stand on God’s word because they have no idea where it is at. They let lost Roman Catholics Jesuits infiltrate their Bible societies, Churches & Bible Colleges
Chris says
Thanks for you input Samuel.
God has kept his Word preserved. And it seems God has put his fingerprint on the Bible so that we can be confident that all scripture is given by inspiration of God, (2 Timothy 3:16) and that the Bible did not come to be by the will of man, but holy men of God moved by the Holy Ghost. (2 Peter 1:20-21)
My concern I am communicating in my comment above is that people think the PCE KJV is the only Bible translation that God uses. After reading your comment, it would have been better for me to say “is not a perfect translation” instead of “is not a perfect Bible”. I updated my comment.
Also, I agree with Church losing it’s power. We are described in Revelation as a lukewarm church. (Revelation 3:16) We have lost our first love. (Revelation 2:4) And even Timothy records a prophecy that in the last days, people will have a form of godliness, but deny the power of it. (Nominal Christians) (2 Tim 3:5)

The versions are different. When you change the wording, you can change the meaning. Do some research on it. I realize that you are probably trying to stay neutral, but the new versions are taking very important words out of the Bible. For instance, they talk about Jesus’ parents vs Joseph and his mother. Joseph wasn’t his father. By calling him a parent, it infers that Jesus is not God’s son. It does matter.
Woody says
The PCE KJV/AV1611 is the perfect Word of God, for English speakers. The originals are Textus Receptus (the non-alexandrian false text version) and the Hebrew TaNaKh.
Chris says
The best English translations for a person are those where biblical truth is most effectively communicated and easily understood by a person.
“So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air.” – 1 Corinthians 14:9 (KJV)
“So also you, unless you utter by the tongue speech that is clear, how will it be known what is spoken? For you will be speaking into the air.” – 1 Corinthians 14:9 (NASB)

Chris did a great job on this! You can download the free Kindle App Software for Mac and use the KJV eBook Bible using the Mac Kindle App. I use this great KJV Bible Chris publishes on my Mac and on various Kindle devices. Amazon makes Kindle Apps for iPhone and iPad, Android devices, Windows PCs, and Macs. The KJV eBook Bible should work on any Kindle app or device.

I am trying to locate a MS SQL Server version of the Authorized KJV (many corrupt ones out there)…I found your site and was hoping I could work with you do perform a dump to MS SQL from My SQL (i.e. mysqldump –compatible=mssql).
I’m really hoping you can help, I’m a software engineer trying to do this in my off time and it might take a while otherwise.
Anyway, if you can assist, I would greatly appreciate it…
Chris says
I’m sure it is easy to import the MySQL Bible database using your preferred database software and then export as MS SQL. I like using Sequel Pro.

I have a new Kindle Voyage. I have been unable to get the verse search feature to work with this Bible. Does it work with a Kindle Voyage? If it should work, do you have any idea about what I am doing wrong? Thank you.
Chris says
I have not tested it on a Voyage. However, with verse search, your device should take some time to index any book you install. Since the Bible is large, it could take some time. Let me know if it ends up working. If it doesn’t, I’ll test it myself and fix the bug if there is a bug.

Jonas says
The scriptures are inspired of God. However, there is one best among the many versions believe me or not! The Version that carries the many spirits or nearest to the fullness of the spirit in a single verse or for the whole of the Holy Book is the best version. I mean, because God is a Spirit the words translated out from the original scriptures must be spirit filled. Many translations today diminish the spirits in a verse. What is appalling is that they take away the spirit of Fear of the Lord and the spirit of judgment and burning in the many letters that they translate. This is the one of the silent reason why it is written the letter killeth but the spirit giveth life. Diminish , add, or divide the word of truth wrongly and, I bet, you will have a big trouble. If one is able to try & weigh the spirits that a single translation brings then you are not far from having the Spirit of Truth and Revelation. Know that God weigheth the spirits, the path, the actions and the ways of a man. He that hath an ear let him hear.
Jonas says
Afterall, the Kingdom of God is not of words but of Power. The power to change a man for sinfulness to becoming holy and perfect and clean in heart and mind. Having the spirit of love and power and of the sound mind will keep you in the way of life for the interpretation of the scriptures will and must be in the spirit and not in letters. the interpretation in the letters is only the truth in part but the interpretation in the spirit is what Paul said, the one that is Perfect to do away the thing which is in part. He that hath an ear let him hear.

Greetings !
I am in the process of buying a Kindle ereader in order to read the The Holy Bible KJV – Kindle Edition.
However, you mention that that Kindle edition is to be uploaded from Amazon for $1.99.
But Amazon says it is not available on the website (why not I have no clue).
If not, could I then download it from you?
For if I am not able to download it from Amazon, nor from you, then I might just as well stop the purchase of the Kindle ereader, as I only would use it for reading daily in the AKJB pure Cambridge edition.
Chris says
Amazon might be blocking it depending on the country you are in. But I do have a link up above to download the .MOBI file, which is free.

Why are certain words in italic?
Chris says
They are words that were added by the translators to help the reader.

I first found this book in Amazon, but because I do not live in the USA, I couldn’t download it to my paperwhite kindle. Then I found this site.
I am a big fan of Cambridge Edition. Someone had to get the bible version right – any difficult or archaic word can easily be defined, especially with modern technology.
I like to commend the author/s on this kindle version. It is quick and easy to navigate (and I am glad that someone has taken the trouble to keep the italics in).
Thanks for a great job done.
Only one hint; please commence each chapter on a new page.
Chris says
I’m glad you find this Kindle version helpful. I built it for myself originally. But afterwards, I figured others could also benefit from it.
Robert says
Thanks for this ebook. I have used it for a while, and I can say is that this is great. It is quick, it is easy to navigate, highly readable, and it is PCE. Thanks again.
Chris says
You are welcome! I’m glad you find it helpful.
Matt says
Thank you for making this edition. I’ve been looking for a Kindle version for quite a while. Is it possible that you could make a paragraphed version? While verse-by-verse is really nice for looking up lookup and study, more modern, paragraphed typesettings seem more conducive to reading.
Chris says
This is not easily possible unless I get my hands on a good, trustworthy paragraph text in digital format.

Great project! It was very easy to convert it to an epub version with no loss in the effort put into the navigation. Thank you very much.

Glad to hear! If you publish your work online, I might link to it for others to use.
Sarah says
Thank you for making this! I’m not a believer myself, but I think Christianity is a very important part of Western culture and is something that should be preserved. I’ve never taken the time to fully read the Bible so I decided I should at least spend some time reading through it so I have a better knowledge of the faith that has brought so much good to the world, and is the foundation for our Western values.
Aaron Philby says
I love the epub format but I am unable to find The King James Bible in the epub format, free or otherwise. There is one version out there, but I started reading it and immediately found a massive typo where a bunch of words were left out. That’s the only version I can find out there. It’s a little frustrating because I thought epub was a pretty major format, and this the The Bible we’re talking about. You’d think there’d be a thousand versions with no typos. Do you know where I can find a proper KJV epub?
Chris says
There is a comment above by Matthew Chambers, who said he was able to easily convert the .MOBI file into an epub format.

Hey Chris,
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS WORK! This is literally THE BEST kindle version there is out there. Really enjoy being able to jump around even through verses.
I might get stoned for this by KJVO’ers, but any chance you could make the same work for the ESV version? I know the ESV version is available free in kindle, so I’m wondering if its possible in terms of licensing and stuff.
Chris says
Thanks Lu. I’ll look into the ESV translation. Thanks for the recommendation.
Chris says
I reached out to Crossway.org about using their translation, and they said: “we do not allow others to recreate the ESV text”. My personal recommendation is that you use the KJV for reading and word studies. looking up definition for words will give you a deeper and more accurate understanding of the Bible. For example, reading the definition of patient, and seeing how that word was used in the 1600’s, compared to how we use it now, is very helpful in understanding the original meaning of a verse or passage. Words have a precise meaning, and it is important we strive to understand how the authors intended to use the words they wrote. And you can always supplement your reading by comparing with a modern translation. The NASB is my second translation of choice.
Pete Stingley says
I found your site while searching for an ebook version of the King James bible, Cambridge edition, for a Kindle Paperwhite reader that I want to purchase. I knew from some research that I had done earlier that older Kindle’s were unable to read pdf’s (the format for a lot of the documents that I also want to be able to read) but were able to read them IF they were first converted to a MOBI file format. So, when I saw your (free) link for the complete KJV in Mobi, I clicked on it to try the download. I was amazed that it only took seconds to download! I had been downloading some books earlier in pdf format. A single book, smaller than even one average book of the OT, would take 2-3 minutes, let alone enough of them to approximate the content of the entire Cambridge edition (my preferred translation) of the KJ bible! I am unable to test the downloaded MOBI content as I have yet to purchase a Kindle, but I will do that soon.
I guess what I am trying to say (in so many words) is how amazed I am that such a valuable and comprehensive work as the entire KJV bible could be downloaded so quickly. It is divine, in its own way. Yes! I will support your efforts to make this work available to everyone. This is a God-send, literally, for the spiritually hungry. Sometimes, technology can be useful for the purposes of God. May God continue to bless you and your efforts to spread His word to the world.
Chris says
Thank Pete. Yes, technology and the Internet have made it possible to spread the Bible to any part of the world in an instant. Let’s remember what Jesus said:
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. – Matthew 24:14
Think of what a bold statement that would have been for a normal human to make. Yet, because God knows the end from the beginning, He can confidently make such a prophetic statement. And with technology, and instant communication, we now can see how that will be possible.
I pray that this eBook Bible will be a helpful tool for you as you study God’s Word.
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. – 2 Timothy 2:15
